Organizational matters
The aptitude test is offered once a year and takes place on the last Saturday in June. We recommend preparing well in advance for the test and, if possible, a year before you apply to study. This avoids the double burden as you complete your Abitur: if you do not pass, you can work on any shortcomings and take the test again; and if you are ill during the test period, you do not need to postpone your studies for another year.
Confirmation of aptitude expires 2 years after it is issued and will no longer be accepted as proof that you meet the admission criteria. For special conditions related to the extension of the validity period, see the bylaws on special admission requirements (last updated on 14 April 2021).
The following applicants are exempt from the requirement to provide proof of aptitude:
- applicants who have already successfully passed a comparable test for admission to a sports or human movement science degree program (validity: 2 years)
- transfer students, regardless of their origin, who have successfully completed a sports or human movement science degree program
- students changing degree programs within the Institute of Human Movement Science at Universität Hamburg
- applicants to a second degree program who have successfully completed a first degree program in human movement science
- students enrolled in an exchange program recognized by the University
